We drove off into the sunset (well, not really, it was morning, but we WERE going west), and eventually stopped in Saskatoon. And then we ate lunch. In the parking lot, there was the following rather entertaining license plate (on a truck):
After we were done with lunch and delicious desserts from a restaurant Heather's mom used to frequent, we got back onto the highway, en route to Edmonton. We made a few stops along the way:
1. Lloydminster, Saskatchewan/Alberta: A border city. I think border cities are hilarious, especially when they border Saskatchewan, since then they need to decide what to do about time zones and Daylight Saving Time, what with Saskatchewan not believing in Daylight Saving Time and all.
But at least they have nice art!
The city of Lloydminster was founded by some dude named Rev. Lloyd (sort of, he actually founded the Barr Colony who moved into Lloydminster). So they have a nice little church that he used to use back in the day. They also have oil.
There's also a sign on a stoplight that says "Alberta Saskatchewan border," but I'm sadly missing from the picture, and since I'm a camera hog, one picture per post is quite enough to not feature me.
b) Vegreville, Alberta, home of the world's largest Easter Egg.
Which is actually really scientifically interesting, but I'm not here to talk about science, I'm here to talk about vacations.
Vegreville also has a lot of Ukrainians...
And there is a caboose.
At the end of Day 2, we were in Edmonton. Also, the cow counting game ended in a tie, since Eric missed the three consecutive graveyards on Heather's side of the car.
