Day 8 - August 25: A gravel bar on the side of the river

Today, we woke up, and it was still cloudy.  Also, since it had rained overnight, our tents were still wet.  Today did not start with a hike, so instead we just headed straight out onto the river.  The entire day was largely uneventful, but we saw some wildlife.  Unfortunately, all the wildlife we saw were either too far away or too fast (or maybe even both of those things) to get a picture of.
We saw some trumpeter swans (which are cool, by the way.  I'm jealous, since they can fly AND they make cool noises), and also a moose.  Jim said he saw two moose, but I only saw one moose.  Unless I'm greatly mistaken, I think we also saw a goose.  Or perhaps several geese, but I had a nice "oose" theme going, so I needed to keep it up.
Our campsite for the night was seriously lacking in trees, so we needed to get creative:

Our shelter (it was raining again, by which I mean drizzling, but still enough to be annoying) was held up by canoes and food barrels

Some more canoes and food barrels turned into a table, which did a great job of holding our food.  If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend giving it a shot the next time you need a table on a beach.
